Five-goal Golden send Club crashing

Club's hopes of another good result against top opposition were shattered at Mongkok Stadium last night after a 5-0 thrashing by Golden.

Golden ruthlessly exposed Club's shaky defence and booked a semi-final berth in the San Miguel FA Cup on April 7 where they will play Instant-Dict or Mansion, who meet tonight.

Club have recently gained credibility after surprising 1-1 draws against Uhlsport-Rangers and Happy Valley.

But things went against Club from the start last night. They were missing Fraser Quirke and lost veteran defender Phil Russell in the 25th minute through injury.

Bosnian striker Anto Grabo notched two goals while Scottish striker Lee Bullen and national midfielder Lo Kai-wah were both on target with a goal each.

Club's Paul Wilson struck an own goal just before the break to give Golden a 3-0 half-time lead.

Grabo was substituted with an ankle injury in the 56th minute but was in a fighting mood saying: 'It is a good result for us. It became easier once Club conceded the first goal: they lost some of their fighting spirit.' Club coach Tony Sealy was disappointed with the result saying: 'We made too many simple mistakes. Our first half was very poor and we created few scoring chances in the second half.

'The players are disappointed because they had worked hard for this game,' he added.

Meanwhile, Instant-Dict's 37-year-old veteran defender Chan Ping-on has been included in the national five-a-side squad.
