TUNIS: Would-be elephant hunters could realise their dream under a plan to promote African tourism by selling shares in the mammoth beasts and letting shareholders shoot them 10 years later. The proposal, formulated by the Economic Commission for Africa, is designed to provide for the animals' upkeep and to thin herds as needed.
