Notwithstanding that the Government is using all means to convince us that the Disney project is beneficial to Hong Kong in the long run, and that the news of their success in reaching an agreement with Disney on the construction of the theme park is being greeted with jubilation from certain quarters, I'm having serious doubts about the viability of the project.

Although Disney has been able to catch the imagination of millions in the past few decades, it remains to be seen whether it is still able to weave its spell on future generations.

Frankly, most youngsters whom I've approached have opined that Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck are already vastly out-dated and they no longer have much interest in Disney's characters and image and have instead turned to things that are more modern and upbeat.
