Playing alongside Woods a real privilege, says Han

Kyi Hla Han enjoyed every step of his walk with greatness in the Johnnie Walker Classic yesterday. Hong Kong-based Han, Asia's number one last year, failed to fire in the second round but was full of admiration for playing partner Tiger Woods.

The world number one tore apart the Alpine Golf & Sports Club with a 65 to put himself in pole position to take the title he first won in 1998. 'Playing with Tiger was really memorable. It was bigger than competing in the British Open at St Andrews this year - a real privilege,' said Han, who missed the cut after adding a 73 to his 75.

'To get to play with the world number one in such a big event in front of huge galleries was a lot of fun. I wish I could have played a bit better - I hit it solidly enough but did not hole a putt over two feet. It was that sort of day.

'My short game has been off all season. I need to work on my game before the final three events on the Davidoff Tour. I want to win a tournament before the end of the year.'

Chinese number one Zhang Lianwei, on a high after halving a matchplay encounter with two-time Major winner Mark O'Meara on Wednesday, shot a five-under-par 67 in the second round - his lowest score in five appearances in the Johnnie Walker Classic.

'I am very satisfied with my round - it's the best I have shot in the Johnnie Walker Classic,' said Zhang, who had six birdies and a solitary bogey. 'The ball is stopping on the greens a lot better today and I putted really well. I made a lot of putts from 10 feet. The only bad putt I had was on the 15th when I charged my birdie attempt and ended up three putting for bogey.

'I am happy with my game here, especially as I did not have a practice round. I played the course for the first time on Thursday and today I had a better idea of the layout and attacked.'
