Hard-as-nails convict Piper (Laurence Fishburne) and

computer-geek criminal Dodge (Stephen Baldwin) find themselves cuffed together and on the run after they are accidentally involved in an explosive jailbreak. The next thing they know, not only are the cops on their case, but also the Cuban mafia and they have just 72 hours to retrieve a heap of stolen cash and a highly incriminating computer disk.

Of course, bar the high-speed chases and shoot-outs, their biggest obstacle is learning to get on with each other - as they seem to have a difference of opinion on almost everything.

Much of this is familiar stuff - most reminiscent of the brilliant 48 Hours (Eddie Murphy and Nick Nolte) - and although there are some funny moments, neither Fishburne (a quality character actor - what was he doing in this?) nor Baldwin can elevate the film's poor material.

There is some ingenuity in the action sequences - practically every form of transport is used by the protagonists to get away - but you might want to flee the television when this comes on. Also starring Salma Hayek (above). (1996)
