Ticket mix-up proves costly
Hongkong (Jan 26): A Scottish businessman is suing the Hongkong Government for $9,000 - because he claims he flew from Edinburgh to Hongkong to answer a summons for a parking ticket.
Experts are studying the claims for damages from non-motorist, Mr Derek Allan Shaw.
Mr Shaw is a businessman who was in Hongkong for several months up to early last year. He left the Colony in February but a ticket against him for illegal parking in the Civil Aviation Department's area at Kai Tak was issued in April.
At San Po Kong Court on November 8, last year, Mr Shaw pleaded not guilty. Upon investigation, it was found the offending vehicle was a goods lorry and Mr Shaw had been improperly summoned.

Hongkong (Jan 28): Chinese trade officials hailed the fall of the gang of four as removal of a great obstacle to China's foreign trade.
A provincial radio broadcast quoted the staff and workers of the Canton Municipal Foreign Trade Bureau as saying 'with ulterior motives, the gang of four has maliciously slandered foreign trade'.
