Expert to focus on reform

Published:

Updated:

The world's leading authority on education reform and leadership is visiting the city this week as part of government efforts to implement its reform agenda for schools.

About 2,500 principals, teachers, school managers and inspectors will participate in a three-day conference from Thursday led by Canadian academic Michael Fullan, who advises the governments of Britain and Ontario, Canada.

He will tell the School Leadership and Sustainability Conference his ideas on school improvement, focusing on leadership and change; the creation of learning communities within and between schools; and school-district relationships.

'Looking at the world movement of knowledge and pace of change, you have to accept you have to manage it, not slow it down,' said Deputy Secretary for Education and Manpower Chris Wardlaw.

'This is something Michael knows, across the spectrum of education reform.'
