Finance head sought to expand multinational

Here is an opportunity for a top finance mind with commercial experience to have an impact on a globally recognised business: a publicly listed European multinational with a reputation for innovation and market domination is looking for a financial controller, the No1 finance position for its Hong Kong operation.

'The position is new, and driven out of continued growth through the Asia-Pacific region, in particular in Hong Kong, as the economy continues to recover and expand,' said Nicholas Neal, team leader of the commerce accounting division at Robert Walters Hong Kong.

The senior management position will see the incumbent supporting the vice-president of the business, with the executive's primary objective being to ensure the organisation continues to grow profitably.

'This requires the individual to participate in a commercial, operational capacity, regulating and validating the sales function,' Mr Neal said.

Specific industry experience would be valuable to ensure complex contracts and deals are profitable, and that the bid and tender processes are controlled.

What makes this role attractive?

'Essentially, it is indicative of the new era in finance,' Mr Neal said.

The stand-alone position offers a high level of autonomy and responsibility across many areas of business.

In the longer term, the post will present an opportunity to move into the role of commercial chief financial officer, chief operations officer or general manager.

The ideal candidate should have an accounting qualification and come armed with an MBA.

'In terms of experience, a minimum of 10 years' commercial experience with a multinational organisation would be required,' Mr Neal said.

Applicants should also be confident of operating in a highly commercial environment, and be able to deal with sales, marketing and clients.
