HKIS appoints new head

The Hong Kong International School (HKIS) has appointed a former US consul general as its head.

Richard Mueller first worked for the American consulate general in Hong Kong from 1983 to 1986 as chief of the economic section, then as the US consul general from 1993 to 1996.

Since 1998, Mueller has been head of Northfield Mount Hermon School in Massachusetts and became its president last year.

As his two sons studied at HKIS during their stay in Hong Kong, Mueller also served on the school's board of managers and was involved in the decision-making leading to the construction of the new high school campus in Tai Tam.
