Richards sets pace after three meetings

Mark Richards is setting a high standard after just three meetings of the new season, with his last two nap bets arriving at juicy odds.

Classa Win, labelled by the Jockey Club commentator and Racing tipster as his best bet of the night last Wednesday, duly arrived and paid $166. The quinella in that race, coupling Classa Win up with Murray Bell's best bet Fortune Smiles, paid $404.50.

Richards was at it again at Sha Tin on Sunday when his best bet Dave's Best returned to racing victorious, as he did last season as well. The Dennis Yip-trained galloper paid a very solid dividend of $64.50.

Better things awaited Richards's fans, however, as his 'play of the day', an $80 investment on the treble, also came home, with the dividend being $485.

Racing editor Murray Bell made a belated swing into the new season, finding three winners in Successor ($61.50), Champion King ($34) and his best bet, Regency Horse ($21.50).

Coupling up Bell's four selections in the second race provided one of the day's best dividends, a $755 quinella with Choice and Chance defeating Star Prodigy.

One race later, Bell found the $214 quinella, $448 Trio and $2,144 tierce (Successor, Kowloon Fit, Treasure Raiders).
