Sexy Hammer - singer and guitarist Law Hoi-on, guitarist Chau Chi-tat, bassist Tse Wai-chiu and drummer Chung Yiu-wing - have been making a lot of noise for a band that have been playing together for a little more than a year. 'We met through hanging around band rooms, through ICQ and MSN,' says Law. 'We all shared a love of old-school punk rock and heavy metal, so it made sense that we'd join up and play together. We chose the word sexy because we like sexy girls, and hammer represents our love of heavy metal.'

Their influences include

bands such as Sum 41, Good Charlotte, Blink 182 and My Chemical Romance. 'We listen

to American music much more than, say, Hong Kong pop music,' says Law. 'Hong Kong is too

small - especially when it comes to music.

'We think that the Hong Kong scene is just pop music. It's dominated by too many pop

stars who don't know what real music is. They just promote their face and image rather than

their music. It's all the wrong way round.

'I think Hong Kong should have more band shows to promote original music. Of course, the local media should support the scene more than it does by writing about the bands and giving better details to let more people know what's going on.'

Barely out of their teens (the oldest is 20), Sexy Hammer are in tune with their age group. 'We always get lots of teenagers at our shows,' says Law. 'Our best shows are when the kids come and jump around. We're always happy to see that.'
