Witnessing a legend

Archie da Silva addresses guests during the opening ceremony of 'Silent Witness - A Racing Legend' exhibition at Happy Valley. Although Hong Kong's most famous horse has made his last appearance before flying out to take a well-earned retirement in Melbourne, Australia tomorrow, his legendary character and spirit will live on at the Hong Kong Racing Museum. In addition to recalling his racing achievements, the exhibition aims to show visitors some lesser known details about the horse himself - his sire and dam, his birthplace, his everyday life and his new retirement home as well as his 'horse passport', issued in his original name Eltira.

Other interesting souvenirs include the brochure of his yearling sale, his stable nameplate, a horseshoe that fell off during his debut race, a number cloth worn in Japan, items of his riding tack and grooming gear and welcome letters from his new home.
