A note from the boss
Provenzano began his notes with a preamble: 'Dearest, I received your news with joy and it makes me very happy to know that everyone is in the best of health. The same, thanks to God, at the moment, I can say of myself.'
Then his notes would use often obscure and religious langauge to communicate a message. Examples include:
[Subject incomprehensible] 'Let's act in good faith, these kind of things can happen, and then passing between different hands, it's inevitable. I gather that you spoke with G. He gave you the answers. Lemon peel, I've already forwarded what you told me; that they can go there on Tuesday: 'That's what I've referred'.'
[Subject military] 'I didn't have the chance to communicate it yet. I'll do it when God wants me to.'
[Subject son-in-law]: 'Thanks for reminding me, I forwarded what you told me, that is, 'That you passed along the conversation'.'
[Subject surveillance]: 'If you can do it, and they follow your orders, tell them to keep a look out for one or more video cameras that they may have put around the complex, look well ... and tell them not to speak loudly, neither inside the houses ... but do not thank me [for this]. Thank Our Lord Jesus Christ.'
