Elvis to live again at New York Bar; acid jazz fans can fly the Koop at Grand Stage

For those disappointed fans of the King who couldn't get tickets to the sold-out Elvis Presley fan club bash on Sunday night at the Police Officers' Club, you have another chance to pay tribute to the hip-swivelling, rock 'n' roll pioneer.

The InterContinental Grand Stanford Hotel has asked Elvis impersonator Stephen Kabakos to hang around. He will perform another 30th anniversary tribute night at Tiffany's New York Bar on Thursday at 9.30pm. Although there isn't a cover charge, the bar is imposing a minimum bill of HK$200.

For a different kind of beat, Swedish jazzy lounge duo, Magnus Zingmark and Oscar Simonsson, better known as Koop, are coming for a one-night-only party at Grand Stage in Western Market (323 Des Voeux Road) on September 6.

Love Da Records is bringing the two, known for wearing dresses when they perform live, and an enlarged band will accompany them.

Tickets are HK$388 and include two glasses of wine - thanks to the beverage sponsor. Of course, that means the show is limited to those 18 or older. DJs Kuku and Ivan will play at the after-party.
