Citic South China strikes Zhuhai record

Citic South China, a property arm of the state-owned conglomerate Citic Group, yesterday successfully bid 4.7 billion yuan for a residential-commercial site in Zhuhai, a record land price for the city. Citic saw off Hutchison Whampoa, China Overseas Holdings, China Vanke and Guangzhou R&F Properties to buy the site for 7,700 yuan per square metre, 156 per cent higher than the opening bid of 3,000 yuan per square metre. The previous record price in Zhuhai was for a site in Nanping that sold for 3,510 yuan per square metre last year.
