Nineteen-year-old Jimmy Ko Ming-chak shot an opening-round 66 to lead the UBS Hong Kong Open qualifying tournament at the Hong Kong Golf Club yesterday. Ko is taking part in the tournament as part of the Faldo Series Asia, which is running in conjunction with the qualifier. Ko (pictured) has a two-stroke lead over Dominique Boulet (68). Tang Shing-chi and Derek Fung are tied for third after shooting 69s. In all, 39 golfers are competing for one of five wild-card entries into next month's open. The successful qualifiers will join a stellar field that includes 2003 Masters champion Mike Weir, two-time US Open winner Retief Goosen, PGA Tour stars KJ Choi and Trevor Immelman and China's number one Liang Wenchong.
