Pub crawl with global dimensions hits Stanley

The cushiest Christmas job this year must belong to the Irish lads on a round-the-world pub crawl - sponsored by a brewery and a hangover cure company. The pair hit Hong Kong last week as part of their odyssey to visit 72 pubs on six continents in 21 days. They were featured in the Sunday Morning Post talking about their exploits - to the envy of every tippler. In an update on their website, www.thetwelfthpub.com, they give a detailed account of their visit and the pubs they hit as part of the Asian leg of their bid to fulfil an Irish Christmas tradition of visiting a dozen pubs in a day.

Frank McNally (left) and Eammon Conaghan admit that 'one of the great triumphs of the tour' was sending a group of children surveying tourists in Stanley back to school with '12th Pub' badges in response to the question, 'What brings you to Hong Kong?' I wonder how many survey-takers admitted they just came here to drink beer.
