Two mainlanders were arrested after a failed attempt to steal a US$280,000 diamond at the Hong Kong Jewellery and Watch Fair by switching it with a fake. Stall-keepers saw the men, surnamed Kong, 30, and He, 39, attempting the switch at about 12pm at the Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai. They were arrested and were being held last night.
