No easy pass
'Pass' is a simple word that we use quite often. For example, when we receive our exam results, we may cry out excitedly: 'I have passed!' Or, during a game of cards, we may say 'pass' if we do not have a good hand.
But we should not 'pass' an opportunity to help others.
You may have come across a stranger who needs help. Maybe they want some small change to pay the bus fare, or they may be seeking directions to go to a certain place. You should not 'pass' or ignore them.
The same goes for charity flag-sellers you meet on the street. You can donate a few dollars and help the needy.
When you meet these people, you may say to yourself: 'I wanna pass quickly!' But if you have the ability to make even a small difference to society, why not do so?
From now on, think twice before you say 'pass'.

Thanks for writing in, Erica. One thing about Hong Kong's youth is their generosity in giving their time and resources to those less fortunate. Many of our readers do volunteer work during their spare time. They visit the elderly or help to collect funds for charities.
They work to make people's lives a bit better, and we at Young Post salute them.
