Short story winners dazzle with talent

We received oodles of entries for our holiday short story competition from some exceptionally talented writers. You can read many of them on our website yp.scmp.com. The six finalists' stories will appear in Young Post over our holiday reading period. We've already printed a story from Isabella di Caro about magical snowflakes, and another from Melissa Tan about a mission to kidnap Santa Claus.

Coming up, you can read about a holiday letter from Ho Chak-kong, 16, of South Island School, peek into the diary of Tara Sachdev Aggarwal, 10, of Hong Kong International School, look into a rat's holiday conscience with Mok Kan-qiao, 14, of Wah Yan College and follow a story of friendship at an orphanage by Jade Lam, 12, from Maryknoll Convent School. The winner of the competition is Melissa Tan. Melissa wins HK$2,000 worth of book vouchers from Dymocks. Congratulations.
