Tung Wah Museum to be declared monument
The government has proposed declaring Tung Wah Museum a monument. The 1911 Chinese Renaissance building in Waterloo Road was the main building of Kwong Wah Hospital, the first public hospital serving Kowloon and the New Territories. It now houses the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals' archive. The government has also recommended the Man Mo Temple in Hollywood Road, the Tang Kwong U Ancestral Hall in Yuen Long and Kom Tong Hall in Castle Road, Mid-Levels, be declared monuments - a status that protects buildings against demolition or unauthorised alteration.
World Cup widow stabs husband
A woman, 41, was arrested last night after she allegedly stabbed her husband when he tried to leave their flat in Ka Shin Street, Tai Kok Tsui, to watch a World Cup match at about 8pm. The woman was believed to have grabbed a knife from the kitchen and injured his neck. Their 19-year-old daughter called for help. The 42-year-old man was in stable condition in hospital this morning.
