About 200 retired military officers protested outside the Guangzhou city government offices in Yuexiu district yesterday, complaining of a lack of housing and pension support. They were called inside to meet officials after marching to the government offices in the morning. They protested outside around midday, singing battle songs while calling for better pensions and housing and secure jobs. The demonstrators dispersed peacefully afterwards.
