Typhoons may come early this year

Hong Kong might be in for an early typhoon season this year because of the La Nina effect, Hong Kong Observatory director Lee Boon-ying said. Lee said the first typhoons might arrive in May, compared with July last year, because of La Nina, which brings cooler than normal temperatures to the equatorial Pacific Ocean. The Observatory is finalising a study on this year's typhoon trend.
