Expectant mother Kelly Chen checks out the options for more room on the road

Now that she's expecting again, singer Kelly Chen Wai-lam will probably need to trade up a size - in the family sedan, that is. As luck would have it, the mother-to-be was one of the first people in town to check out Audi's new A7 Sportback model, as special guest at the vehicle's Hong Kong launch party at 1881 Heritage, Hullett House, in Tsim Sha Tsui on Friday.

Chen and other VIP guests were instructed to 'free their minds', in order to grasp the concept of an all-in-one luxury, sports and travel sedan.

While Chen dutifully asked about the car's handling capabilities - 'there are so many buttons on the dashboard; does that mean there are lots of things to play with?' - the singer was more interested in the creature comforts of air-conditioned seating and massage functions in the back seat. Chen was just one of many celebrities to share the stage with the luxury sedan; local actors Julian Cheung Chi-lam and Michael Miu Kiu-wai flashed their smiles and Taiwanese singer-songwriter Joanna Wang did a short set with her guitar.

There was one high-profile Hongkonger, however, whose presence was not missed by Mak Kwing-tim, the executive director of Audi importer Dah Chong Hong Holdings.

'While our financial secretary, John Tsang [Chun-wah], would probably benefit from the launch theme of Free Your Mind,' Mak joked, 'I'm glad he's not here tonight.

'Seeing the strong interest in the new Audi might give him ideas of further raising import taxes.'
