Training is a family affair for up-and-coming action star Jennifer Tse - but sharing a screen with dad is unlikely

Entertainment business newcomer Jennifer Tse Ting-ting is fighting her way into the movie industry, with her debut role in 2010's Bruce Lee, My Brother and two action films due to begin shooting in May and July. Who better than older brother and actor Nicholas Tse Ting-fung to train her up for the physically demanding scenes?

'Ting-fung and I have been sparring since we were little, and I mean really sparring,' the 26-year-old said at the Max & Co spring-summer 2011 fashion show, where she was busy modelling some of the collection's more feminine ensembles.

'He's always been such a strong fighter. I remember once he sent me literally flying across the room with a punch. I was such a runt then.'

The aspiring action star said she was now ready to stand her ground against her brother; and besides, 'since becoming a father, Ting-fung's instruction method has increased in patience and encouragement, which works just fine for me.'

Asked if she would consider moving into dramatic roles, Tse said her fondest wish since deciding to join the family business was for her mother, father, brother and herself to star in the same movie. It seems unlikely, though, given that 'my dad [veteran actor, director and producer Patrick Tse Yin] seems so ready for retirement.'
