Southern Glass in focus

SHENZHEN B shares were little changed, with attention focused on glass processor China Southern Glass and consumer electronics manufacturer Shenzhen Konka.

The Credit Lyonnais Shenzhen B Index rose 0.28 per cent to 1,165.51 points on turnover worth HK$7.15 million. Four stocks rose, four fell and 15 were unchanged or not traded.

China Southern Glass fell 0.6 per cent to $8.45 on turnover worth $3.8 million.

The stock has risen 6.2 per cent since August 5.

''Foreign investors remain very interested in this stock and today's fall is only minor,'' Newman Mou, a trader with Smith New Court Far East, said yesterday.

Southern Glass is China's biggest manufacturer of processed glass, selling well in both China and Australia.

Konka rose 6.3 per cent to $6.80 on turnover of $1.66 million.

The company announced good interim earnings last week.
