The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says at least 100 Islamic State jihadists have been killed in three days of fighting for the strategic Syrian  town of Kobane near the border with Turkey.

Syrian troops shelled a besieged town near Damascus and clashed with rebels on the outskirts of the capital on Saturday as the country’s conflict entered its 22nd month.
