Li Ping is China programme director for Landesa, a global land rights organisation. He has extensive experience working in land tenure policy, land rights formalisation, and dispute resolution. He has provided consultancy to international development organisations in formulating policies on tenure security for farmers, land expropriation and resettlement.

Rapid urbanisation has put farmers’ land increasingly in the crosshairs of developers. Two recent changes to Chinese land laws seek to address land expropriation, and represent a milestone in protecting farmers from unjust practices.
