What a Unitard
Big news for bad hair day sufferers with cash to splash: Following a wildly popular tour last year, Philip Kingsley, the world’s pre-eminent trichologist, will once again be paying a visit to our city from October 5-10 to disseminate hair advice to the lucky few
What a Unitard
More fan mail! This one from fellow yoga enthusiast Christina Mazzone:
“Dear Susan, [editor’s note: -_-]
I read with interest your recent article on Yoga in HK. For the past 10+ years I have enjoyed yoga and practice on a regular basis. If my schedule permits, I might do eight classes per week at Pure Yoga in Central (one of the best studios I have attended!). However, I am not a yogi! I do not own Lululemon yoga pants. Ironically, I am originally from Vancouver and have met the founder of Lululemon. However, I do not find the need to dress up to do yoga. In fact, I have three black unitards that I rotate. I have not been able to locate unitards in HK and would love to find a local source.”
Big news for bad hair day sufferers with cash to splash: Following a wildly popular tour last year, Philip Kingsley, the world’s pre-eminent trichologist, will once again be paying a visit to our city from October 5-10 to disseminate hair advice to the lucky few. For those with serious hair problems, Kingsley will be offering just 10 one-on-one private appointments, priced at a whopping $4,500 for a two-hour consultation and professional hair treatment. Yes, it’s a lot of money (he once treated Audrey Hepburn's locks, y'know), but I had the pleasure of having breakfast with the man when he was in town last year, and for anyone with persistent hair and scalp woes, his advice is a revelation. If you can’t afford the private sesh, then Kingsley is also giving a “Save Our Style” talk on October 6 at 7pm, when the expert will take you through common hair woes and tell you how to get the best mane possible. Tickets are $300 and there are only 30 seats. Call the Mandarin Oriental Salon at 2825-4800 or email [email protected] for bookings. And yes, spots will sell like hotcakes, so hop to it.

Happy Fry-Day
Let’s face it: food tastes better when it’s fried. It’s a pity that our arteries don’t agree—so how to get delicious crispness without all the fat? I had the good fortune to try out the Philips air fryer when a friend who works for the company got to bring a prototype home. Basically, it uses rapidly moving, very hot air to crisp up usually unhealthy snacks, such as samosas, chicken wings and French fries, so you get all of the flavor with up to 80 percent less fat. The gadget comes with a book of air-fryer 30 recipes for everything from beef skewers to muffins.
The air fryer retails for $1,998 at Fortress outlets citywide. For more info, call Philips customer support at 2619-9663
