Kris Wu steals the show in Alexander McQueen.

From Kris Wu to Timothée Chalamet, men are stealing the style spotlight

Male celebrities are becoming more daring in their sartorial selections at red carpet events across the globe

Male celebrities are outdoing their female counterparts at glamorous events around the world. We’ve already sung the praises of Timothée Chalamet and his takes on the classic suit, which made headlines last year.

This awards season, it looks like more male actors are taking a page from his adventurous fashion book.

Actor Timothée Chalamet makes some strong sartorial statements

Actor Darren Criss, formerly of “Glee” and a winner at the recent Golden Globes for his role in “The Assassination of Gianni Versace”, chose a custom-made jacket embroidered with cherry blossoms from Dior while Ryan Murphy, creator of the television series, opted for a zebra-print dinner jacket from Tom Ford.

The trend, however, is not confined to Hollywood. In China, superstar Kris Wu performed on Eastern TV clad in a bespoke embroidered jacket and trousers from Alexander McQueen.

Chalamet, meanwhile, has moved on to even more daring outfits: his sparkling bib, or harness (the internet is still conflicted on that one), designed by Virgil Abloh for Louis Vuitton, was the talk of the red carpet at the Globes.

It’s hard to predict if more actors will give bibs a shot as they are definitely not your average red-carpet accessory.
