Our obsession with Hollywood movie stars is just as strong for celebrity offspring. Insta-feeds are filled with Kim and Kanye’s troupe of Yeezy-wearing cuties to the boisterous band of Beckham brothers.
And naturally, or genetically, the spawn of showbiz sometimes look a lot like their famous parents. But when the kids can pass as a twin or doppelgänger to our favourite celebrity mums and dads, we are captivated.
We round up six parent-child duos that will make you think you’re seeing double when it’s just doubly good genes.
1. Gwyneth Paltrow and Apple Martin
Few put it better than Derek Blasberg when he posted a photo of the Paltrow ladies on Instagram: “The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree – and neither does Apple”.
Paltrow’s first child from her marriage to Coldplay frontliner Chris Martin is the spitting image of her famous mum.
Apple made waves when she was introduced to the world with her unorthodox first name. But Hollywood’s got weirder since 2004 (Psalm, Raddix and Blue Ivy are just a few eyebrow-raising names in celebrity family trees), making Apple seem rather tame.
Maybe the Goop founder really is ahead of the curve.
2. Angelina Jolie and Shiloh Jolie-Pitt
One of the most popular plastic surgery requests today is still Angelina Jolie’s lips – but for Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, she was born with them.
However, the firstborn of celebrity ex-couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt is known for more than just inheriting her parents’ incredible genes. Shiloh is an LGBTQ+ icon who came out as “gender fluid” in 2019.
She is also a bit of a fashion icon – at just 13 years old.
3. Reese Witherspoon and Ava Elizabeth Phillippe
The daughter of Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe looks exactly like her mum, the Walk the Line Oscar winner. Ava Elizabeth Phillippe is currently attending the University of California, Berkeley, and was last rumoured to be dating Owen Mahoney, who she met at school.
Reese regularly posts on social media about her mummy duties and, when she’s not walking solo on the red carpet, has her 20-year-old mini-me with her.
4. Cindy Crawford and Kaia Jordan Gerber
When your mother is the supermodel face of the eighties, being her lookalike is no bad thing. Kaia Jordan Gerber is also making a name for herself on the model circuit, perhaps even surpassing her mother at the sprightly age of 17 when she won Model of the Year at The Fashion Awards in 2018.
That same year, she walked alongside her mother during Milan Fashion Week for Versace in one glorious full-circle fashion moment.
5. Demi Moore and Rumer Willis
As the first child from Demi’s marriage with Bruce Willis, it hasn’t always been easy being the daughter of a “larger than life” celebrity, Rumer explained up in a Us Weekly interview in 2015.
Rumer has recently shared her thoughts about her mum’s new memoir, Inside Out, which created a stir online at the end of 2019 because of its frank recollections of relationship abuse and personal struggle.
“I’m so proud of her vulnerability, and I think so many women have watched her, and just as her daughters watch her, as this beacon of strength and this kind of leader,” said Rumer in a 2019 episode of CBS’ The Talk.
6. David Beckham and Brooklyn Beckham
The oldest son of the Beckham brothers, Brooklyn Beckham, is looking more and more like his 44-year-old dad every day, down to the same coy smile and dapper dress sense. We hope he also inherited his Spice Girl mum’s killer dance moves.
And, if David Beckham is a heartthrob, you can bet that Brooklyn has also been the apple of many eyes. The 20-year-old has been linked to actresses Chloë Grace Moretz and Sonia Ben Ammar, model Hana Cross and musician Lexy Panterra.
Most recently, Brooklyn has been tied to another famous face: Nicola Peltz, the American actress who played Bradley Martin in the TV series Bates Motel from 2013 to 2015.
7. Lisa Bonet and Zoe Kravitz
The daughter of rockstar Lenny Kravitz and actress Lisa Bonet recently posted a throwback photo of her famous parents on Instagram, and the similarities between her and her superstar mother are uncanny.
Indeed, Kravitz seems to have also inherited her parents’ enviable style, and was even named one of the best dressed women in 2018 by Net-a-Porter.
Outside fashion, Kravitz has carved out a name for herself with mainstream acting success in the HBO series Big Little Lies.
