Apple Martin, 15, is a rising star, and it’s not hard to see why. Her father, Chris Martin, has earned multiple Grammy Awards as the lead singer of rock band Coldplay, and her mother Gwyneth Paltrow is an Oscar-winning actress, talented singer, food writer and entrepreneur. Apple is following in her parents’ footsteps, using her gifts as a dancer and singer to make a name for herself.

Here are five fascinating facts you may not know about her.

1. Her birth generated massive media attention

Apple’s parents may be international stars, but her birth generated even more attention than would be expected for a celebrity child. Apple was at one point Google’s top-searched celebrity child in Hollywood thanks to her name. Paltrow’s extreme protectiveness over her daughter’s privacy has fanned the media’s interest in the young starlet, as has Apple’s own concerns about her privacy.

Apple’s social media accounts are private, making it difficult for fans to get a glimpse into her private life.

2. Apple’s birth inspired two songs by her father’s band

Apple’s conception inspired Coldplay to release a song titled I Am Your Baby’s Daddy. When Apple was born, her proud father wrote Speed of Sound to share his awe and joy at becoming a father.

3. Chris Martin chose her name

Soon after Apple was born, her mother appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show. When Paltrow was asked about her daughter’s unusual name, she said that her then-husband had selected it. But Paltrow clearly loves the name as she told Oprah it was lovely and clear, and conjured up images of sweet wholesomeness.

4. Gwyneth Paltrow doesn’t post Apple’s photos without her daughter’s permission

It’s not uncommon for Hollywood celebrities to post hundreds of images of their children. Paltrow posts regular photos and videos of her on Facebook. However, she is selective about which images go up, and asks Apple’s permission before posting any image or photo of her daughter on any social media outlet.

In March 2019, Paltrow posted an image of Apple without asking her first, believing that it wouldn’t matter as she was wearing a helmet and snow glasses, making it impossible to see much of her face. Her daughter made her displeasure known, reminding her mum on social media that she wasn’t allowed to post her pictures without asking permission. The comment generated a great deal of controversy because some of Paltrow’s followers said that Apple was right to correct her mum while others said the starlet had gone too far.

5. Apple is into Goop

Apple is a big fan of her mother’s company, Goop. At the age of 13, she accompanied her mum to one of her stores, helping out behind the counter and telling customers about the products. She’s also helped her mum keep up with beauty trends, suggesting the creation of contouring kits and lip kits that stay on all day. Fans can hear Apple taking part in “The Health-Span Plan”, episode 4 of Netflix’s Goop miniseries. Sadly, we don’t get to see her face. Apple is holding the video camera as she talks with her mum about her mum’s insane meal plan.

Apple Martin is a fascinating young woman who steals the show whenever she’s in the limelight. The world is poised to hear more about her as she makes her way in life.
