OnlyFans is not only one of the most popular content-sharing platforms today, but possibly one of the most controversial. Featuring only a website with no official apps, creators offer their followers videos, photos and even chances to chat one-on-one for a price. Since its inception, the platform has given its creators free rein to upload any content, including adult content, which is locked behind a paywall.

It was initially dismissed as a platform meant only for adult content makers, but OnlyFans has amassed a user base of more than 130 million, with TikTok creators and even celebrities like Cardi B and Bella Thorne signing up.

The New York Times ran a story on the UK-based company stating that OnlyFans has changed the adult entertainment industry by putting more power in the hands of creatives.
