And recently, the couple made an exciting announcement – they are expecting twins! The football star shared the news Instagram with a photo of himself and Rodriguez holding up a sonogram.
Let’s take a closer look at what happens when love meets luxury.
Who is Georgina Rodriguez?
Rodriguez is a shop assistant-turned-model-turned-famous-flame. She has been Ronaldo’s constant for the past few years, and together they have a beautiful three-year-old daughter, Alana Martina dos Santos Aveiro. Before entering the world of fashion, Argentina-born Rodriguez was a dancer who studied English in London before pursuing her career in modelling full-time.

Rodriguez didn’t have an easy life growing up. As soon as she was old enough to start working, she moved to Huesca, Spain, where she got her first job as a waitress. A stint at Massimo Dutti followed. “I wanted to work in luxury and I understood that for that, I had to speak English,” Rodriguez told XLSemanal. While studying English in London, she also got a job as an au pair for a family in Bristol, England, earning around US$14 per hour.
Once her English improved, it was back to Madrid, Spain, where Rodriguez got her dream job working in a Gucci store in 2016. That’s where she met the love of her life, Cristiano Ronaldo. In an interview with Grazia, Rodriguez said, “His height, his body, his beauty caught my attention. I was trembling in front of him, but a spark ignited.” She added: “I am very shy [but Ronaldo was] a person who, with one glance, had touched me deeply. Then after, the way Cristiano treats me, cares for me and loves me did the rest.”

Her life changed overnight; she went from working in a store earning about US$350 a week, to raising a family with one of the most popular football players on the planet, often dressed head to toe in Gucci and Chanel. She now has over 28 million followers on Instagram.
How Rodriguez met Ronaldo
In November 2016, the rumour mill was abuzz about a possible relationship between the two after they took a dreamy trip to Disneyland Paris, where they roamed around arm-in-arm and didn’t shy away from PDA.

But unlike most celebrity couples who meet at gatherings or through common friends, their story is a modern-day fairy tale or the perfect meet-cute. After that first chance encounter at the Gucci store Rodriguez worked at, they ran into each other again in the VIP area of a Dolce & Gabbana event. This time the two could talk in a relaxed atmosphere outside of a work environment. “It was love at first sight for both,” Rodriguez told The Sun.
Ronaldo opened up about his feelings to Good Morning Britain co-host Piers Morgan in 2019, saying that he “open[s] the heart for her and she opens the heart for me”. When grilled by Morgan about the possibility of marrying Rodriguez, the footballer said, “Why not [get married]. Not now! Not in this interview. Why not, one day … We’ll one day for sure. It’s my mum’s dream.”
For now, they are a happy couple raising Ronaldo’s four children: twins Eva and Mateo, four, 11-year-old Cristiano Jr. and the three-year-old Alana Martina, of course. The twins were born with the help of a surrogate mother, but the birth mother’s identity has been kept a secret.
