It isn’t easy to dub a lady the Queen of Birkins. It is the esteemed Hermès Birkin, after all, that is the queen of all handbags. Still, when a woman dedicates millions of dollars to the stylish status symbol, we sit up and take notice.

Make-up mogul Kylie Jenner is a name that immediately springs to mind with her enviable colour-coded US$1 million handbag wardrobe.

That’s a record tough to beat, but 42-year-old Roxanne Jacenko, Australian businesswoman, socialite and runner-up of The Celebrity Apprentice Australia, seems to be trumping the American entrepreneur one Birkin at a time.

In 2020, Elle reported that Jenner’s collection includes 13 Birkin bags and 10 Kelly bags. But mother-of-two and PR maven Jacenko owns more than 30 Hermès Birkin bags, according to Yahoo! Lifestyle.

Let’s delve right into the battle of the Birkins …

Aside from being the Queen of Birkins, Jacenko can also claim the coveted title of “Kylie Jenner of Australia” owing to an uncanny resemblance in their wardrobes and passions – ultra-expensive designer handbags.

However, the Australian PR queen boasts only an US$18 million net worth, per Showbiz Corner. Jenner, in comparison, is much wealthier with a whopping US$750 million net worth, states Celebrity Net Worth.

In fact, Jacenko believes her pricey Birkins to be an investment. “It’s like artwork for me – it’s a sense of achievement,” Jacenko told viewers of her bags in her TV special I Am … Roxy.

“I don’t buy based on what I like. It’s more about what’s most saleable long-term as I look at my collection as an investment,” she added, per British media.

Not only does she own more than 30 Hermès bags – and counting – Jacenko also boasts some seriously stunning investments like the super-rare crocodile skin Birkin, which can retail for up to US$300,000, per British media. She flaunted the expensive US$115,000 crocodile skin Hermès Birkin bag earlier this year at a boxing match in Sydney, stated the same source.

According to the report, her extraordinary collection includes several Mini Kelly bags by Hermès in pink and black, costing a cool US$8,150 each, per Surge of Style. But the current highlight of her wardrobe has got to be the Hermès HAC Birkin 50 “Endless Road” limited-edition handbag she flaunted on Instagram.

The bag reportedly set the entrepreneurial force behind (formerly) Sweaty Betty PR, The Ministry of Talent and Pixie’s Bows back by a whopping US$52,000, per Jane Finds. In addition, Jacenko boasts at least three 35cm-sized Birkins considered the holy grail of handbags among fashion collectors.

The Australian entrepreneur and fashionista might have a soft spot for Hermès handbags, but her collection also includes an array of designer bags from the likes of Chanel, Balenciaga, Saint Laurent, Dior and Fendi, as per The Sydney Morning Herald. The PR guru is undoubtedly spoiled for choice!

However, she does seem to have a favourite. She admitted via Instagram, “I dreamed of adding this to my @hermes collection …. And then made it a reality.” The bag in question was a 2016 purchase, an US$56,000 crocodile skin Hermès Birkin bag that debuted at Paris Fashion Week, per British media. The Sweaty Betty PR businesswoman, who recently stepped down as director from her company, told Australian media that the accessory was the “best of [her] collection without question, as it’s very rare”.

She can’t keep all her expensive luxury bags under one roof

A US$660,000 handbag wardrobe sitting casually inside a US$7.8 million home does pose security threats. The Australian socialite highlighted that since her Hermès bags are exorbitantly expensive, she can’t store them all under the same roof. “I spread them around because it’s too much of a security risk having them all in one place,” she explained to Australian media. “I couldn’t get insurance if they were all together.”

But while Jacenko’s 260,000 Instagram followers might be fans of her fancy wardrobe, her family aren’t as enthused. Her mother, Doreen, does not support her expensive hobby and disapproves of the extravagant collection. “[My mum] said to me the other day, ‘You can’t live on a handbag, so stop buying them.’”

Threat or no threat, the handbags are certainly an appreciating asset … but do you see Jacenko ever selling any?
