While her designer outfits (often head-to-toe Gucci or Chanel) or her outerwear pieces from activewear brand Alo Yoga generate millions of likes, it’s her Hermès bags that make each ensemble a sartorial stand-out.

Here are five ways Rodríguez has rocked her rare Hermès bags, pulling them off with panache.

1. Hermès Birkin Himalaya

Rodríguez opted for an athleisure spin when she was seen carrying her Birkin Himalaya as she got out of a car, sporting a grey crop top, matching tracksuit bottoms and white coat. The outfit was suitably “accessorised” by the car itself – a Bentley, no less.

Dubbed the holy grail of handbags, the Himalayan Birkin is crafted from the skins of Nile crocodiles, hand dyed to produce a white-to-grey ombré effect said to resemble the Himalayas, hence the name. Noted Himalayan Birkin owners include Nita Ambani, Victoria Beckham, Kim Kardashian, Filipino influencer Heart Evangelista and Singaporean socialite Jamie Chua.

2. Hermès Kelly

In 2021, Rodríguez showed support for Ronaldo’s son, Cristiano Ronaldo Jr., by turning up to watch him play football. At that time, he was playing for the Manchester United Academy, British media reported.

For the occasion, Rodríguez matched her coat with a blue Kelly.

The Kelly bag was originally designed in the 1930s by then-Hermès CEO Robert Dumas and known as the Sac à Dépêches. One was reportedly given to actress Grace Kelly as part of her character’s wardrobe on the Hitchcock 1955 classic To Catch a Thief. She loved the bag so much that she kept it.

In 1956, a few months after her marriage to Prince Rainier III of Monaco, Kelly used the bag to conceal her pregnancy bump. In 1977, the Sac à Dépêches was renamed the Kelly in tribute to her.

3. Hermès Mini Kelly

In another post, Rodríguez juxtaposed her oversized Alo Yoga coat with a pink Mini Kelly, with its distinctive truncated trapezoid silhouette.

The bag offers a small slip pocket to keep essentials such as a smartphone and credit cards to hand.

4. Hermès Birkin Ostrich

Recently, Rodríguez stunned in another athleisure fit: she wore white skorts with a matching quarter-zip jacket from Alo Yoga, and topped the outfit off with a grey Birkin Ostrich.

Victoria Beckham has helped popularise the bag, being seen with her pink Birkin Ostrich at various events. There are reports of her donning the bag from way back in 2007, when David Beckham debuted for the LA Galaxy football team.

5. Hermès Birkin Crocodile

Lounging in a private jet, Rodríguez has also been seen with an Elpidio Loffredo brown sable fur coat over a black corseted top, cardigan and matching leggings from Alo Yoga. She accessorised with a gold Rolex Daytona, and of course, a red Birkin Crocodile bag.

The Hermès Birkin was named after English actress Jane Birkin. It was designed for her after she spilled the contents of her wicker basket on a flight, in front of Hermès’ then-CEO Jean-Louis Dumas.

In 2015, she asked Hermès to remove her name from the bag after hearing stories of the mistreatment of crocodiles during its production from PETA (Protection for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), as per The Guardian. Hermès assured her that no mistreatment took place and confirmed that Birkin was satisfied with the brand’s investigation. Two years later, the actress admitted she no longer carried her namesake as she preferred to be “fuss-free” and “fill my pockets like a man”.
