Asia-Pacific’s superyacht market is set to rise in next few years due to increased marine tourism in the region – but these 6 rich individuals are already prepped to travel in high style

Hong Kong stars Jackie Chan and Louis Koo, Indian moguls Mukesh Ambani and Lakshmi Mittal, and the Sultan of Oman all possess OTT superyachts fitted with lounges, gyms, pools and even cinemas

Asia is home to thousands of islands, driving tourism at prime destinations and lavish seaside resorts with white sandy beaches and lush tropical environments. Because of its diverse marine life, this makes the region a snorkelling, diving and yachting paradise.

According to Business Wire, the global yacht market in 2021 was valued at US$10.8 billion and is anticipated to reach US$15.15 billion by 2026. Hong Kong has long been the most active city in the superyacht industry, with many acknowledging it as a hub for Asia’s yachting community.

In 2021, the Asia-Pacific superyacht market broke record sales, stemming from an overall increase in yacht ownership and chartering across the region. The industry has great prospects in Asia in the next few years due to the “rising popularity of recreational activities and increased marine tourism in nations such as Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, China, Japan and Australia”, per Business Wire.

6. Jackie Chan – Jinlong superyacht (price unknown)

Hong Kong action star Jackie Chan has amassed quite a fortune throughout his decades-long career. In 2019, he made headlines after finally launching his superyacht that he had commissioned in 2017. The martial artist waited two years for the completion of the 152ft vessel.

Designed by Dutch company Mulder Design in collaboration with Chinese shipyard Jinlong, the superyacht boasts top-of-the-line amenities such as its own library, six guest cabins, a private gym and its own boat house.
