Inside Wang Yibo’s luxurious watch collection: the Uniq pop idol and Chinese actor in Legend of Fei has a love of timepieces, from Chanel J12s and Rolex Day-Dates to Patek Philippe Nautilus
From head to toe, Wang always selects top-notch houses, showing fine tastes in fashion. Since he was 20 years old, Wang has worn gold Rolexes and his envious collection has increased over the years, with a range of luxury watches. Here’s a peek inside his enviable collection:
1. Rolex Paul Newman Daytona 6263
Moreover, the 6263 is famous for its contrast in colour, either black with white sub-dials, or white with black totalisers. A 6263 was sold for a record price of over US$5.4 million at an auction in 2020, according to Phillips.
2. Rolex Cosmograph Daytona 116508
Wang also flaunted a Cosmograph Daytona 116508 at Hunan Satellite TV’s New Year’s Eve party in 2020, matching it with a stylish colourful Chanel jacket in the same gold tone.
The 40mm watch has a 18k yellow gold case and Oyster bracelet. Its mother-of-pearl white dial features snailed counters, 18k gold appliqué hour markers, and hands with a Chromalight display and highly-legible luminescent material. It is equipped with the Calibre 4130, a self-winding movement of all Rolex Perpetual movements and water-resistant up to 100 metres. Its price ranges between US$60,000 and US$65,000, per Chrono24.
3. Rolex Day-Date 128238
Wang owns a series of Rolex Day-Date models, including a classic 36 model 128238 with the smoky green dial which is known as the most popular Day-Date today.
The oyster perpetual watch, made of 18k yellow gold, has a green ombre dial encrusted with baguette-cut diamond for the hour markers, fluted bezel and a President bracelet with semicircular three piece links, per Rolex. It was created in 1956 for the launch of the Oyster Perpetual Day-Date.
Run by the Calibre 3255 movement, it has a power reserve of around 70 hours and is waterproof down to 100 metres. It is available on the Rolex website, priced around US$42,600.
4. Rolex Submariner 126613LB
Wang’s blue-and-gold piece, known as model 126613LB, is obviously catchy for its exotic colour. Combining Oystersteel and yellow gold, it sports a royal blue dial with luminescent display and hour markers in triangle, circle, rectangle shapes, and large hour and minute hands to prevent confusion when reading underwater. It also has a Cerachrom rotatable bezel, a key functionality of the watch. Its 60-minute graduations allow a diver to accurately and safely monitor diving time and decompression stops. It costs nearly US$17,500, per Rolex.
5. Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711
When Wang isn’t wearing a Rolex, he is probably donning a Patek Philippe. A Nautilus 5711 is what he often wears at events and shows.
Released in 2012 as the first alternative of the 5711/1A blue Tiffany dial, this 40mm model features stainless steel for the case, the bezel and the bracelet, per Wristcheck. It is surrounded by an embossed silvery-white dial with luminous hour markers and hands. It is powered by an automatic calibre 324 S C movement with a power reserve of up to 45 hours and water resistance up to 120 metres. Called out of production in 2020, it was sold at US$177,000 at Christie’s last year, according to the auction house.
6. Patek Philippe Nautilus 5370P
Another Patek Philippe that Wang has been spotted with is the Nautilus 5370P, in the memorable moment that he rode a toy motorcycle on the stage on a Weibo night back in 2021.
The 41mm black enamel dial is decorated with 18k gold applied Breguet numerals, an elegant platinum case and shiny black alligator strap. Powered by a calibre CHR 29-535 PS manually-wound movement with split-second chronograph (instantaneous 30-minute counter, seconds subdial, tachymeter scale), it has around 65 hours of reserve. Its listed price is over US$330,000 on the website of Patek Philippe.
7. Chanel J12
Launched in 1999 by Chanel’s designer Jacques Hélleu, a fan of yacht racing, the J12 was inspired by the J-class 12 meter vessel of the sport. All Wang’s three watches feature the typical lacquered round dials of the J12 with Arabic numerals in a highly resistant ceramic and steel case and bracelet with flexible triple-folding clasp.
- The Chinese singer and actor’s most valuable watch is a Rolex Paul Newman Daytona, which he sported on the Everyday Upward TV show when he was only 20 years old
- A Chanel rep, the dancer and motorcycle racer owns 3 J12 models, and has multiple Rolexes including the Cosmograph Daytona, Day-Date, and Submariner – his Patek Philippe pieces are just as impressive
