The ever-controversial yet ever-successful Mel Gibson’s long-time girlfriend, Rosalind Ross – known to her friends as Rosey, per Hello! – celebrated her 34th birthday last month, while her beau turned 68 in January. Despite their huge age difference, the couple has been going strong since 2014 and have a seven-year-old son together, Lars Gerard Gibson, who is the actor’s ninth child.
Rosalind Ross is a writer and director

California-born Ross reportedly studied writing and literature at Emerson College, specialising in historical nonfiction. She made her entry into Hollywood through screenwriting and is credited for writing one episode of the TV drama Matador. Her spec script, Barbarian, which made it to the 2016 Black List, is in pre-production, per IMDB, and has been described as a “female Braveheart”.
Ross is also credited as a writer on the Casey Affleck-produced pirate movie Black Sam, which is currently in development. She also co-executive produced the American Western TV miniseries Lawmen: Bass Reeves.
Ross enjoyed a brief stint as an actress when she appeared in the short film A Social Life (2016), but has mostly remained off-camera since.

While her work is influenced by her partner, Ross doesn’t intend to follow in his footsteps. The young writer told The A.V. Club, “He has been my mentor and a huge inspiration of mine … Undoubtedly, he’s been a huge influence. But I really want to create my own identity as a filmmaker, and I think I have a very distinctive, different identity from now [on after Father Stu]”.
She also listed Quentin Tarantino as one of her cinematic influences.
