Meet Sarah Bock, the newest addition to Severance on Apple TV+: the 18-year-old was inspired to act after a Broadway performance of Matilda – and she’s battled imposter syndrome

Producer-director Ben Stiller worked with Bock to refine her character, who appears opposite Adam Scott and Christopher Walken as the newest employee of the enigmatic Lumon Industries
Now in its second season, Severance has introduced Bock’s character Miss Huang, a child who has somehow managed to land the role of deputy manager of the Severed Floor. There is something sinister about Miss Huang beyond her youthfulness.
While fans have yet to learn the secret behind Miss Huang’s intriguing character, here’s everything you need to know about the actress who plays her, Sarah Bock.
Sarah Bock wanted to act from a young age

Born in August 2006 in Raleigh, North Carolina, Sarah Bock dabbled in several activities as a child, including tennis. She attained a top-40 ranking in North Carolina’s under-10 age group.
Despite her success in the sport, Bock was captivated by acting after watching the musical Matilda on Broadway when she was eight, according to an interview with The Daily Northwestern.
She’s a university freshman

Bock is a freshman at Northwestern University, Illinois, double-majoring in psychology and theatre; she was only 15 when she auditioned for the role of Miss Huang in 2022.
Bock was already filming Severance during her junior year in high school and had yet to make her university choices, when co-star Britt Lower, a Northwestern alumna herself, suggested that Bock apply.
As for Severance, having never watched the show, Bock binge-watched previous episodes on the day she landed the audition, she told Vulture.
The audition process involved Zoom calls with producer-director Ben Stiller to refine Miss Huang’s character.
