South Korean actress Oh Yeon-seo, who will celebrate her 33rd birthday on June 22, rose in popularity through her roles in My Husband Got a Family, Come Back Mister and A Korean Odyssey.

Oh Yeon-seo began her career as an idol in girl group Luv in 2002. She joined the group at the age of 16, together with South Korean actress Jeon Hye-bin.

When the group disbanded, she attended Anyang Arts High School. Not long after, she debuted as an actress and played a supporting role in Sharp 1 in 2003.

Shock – Yeon-seo isn’t her real name

Oh Yeon-seo was actually born Oh Haet-nim – and when she debuted with Luv, it was under her old name. Her singing career was cut short after six months, and after a decade of under-the-radar roles in K-dramas, she went with her mother to consult a shaman, who told her that it was her name holding her back.

A mere four months after legally changing her name, Yeon-seo was cast as the lead in a drama, the lead supporting actress in a movie, and offered five advertising contracts. Huh.
