Meet Gucci’s first ever Thai ambassador Davika Hoorne: the actress-model rose to fame in horror-comedy Pee Mak, walked for Dolce & Gabbana and Michael Kors, and boasts 18 million Instagram followers

Following her presence at the Gucci Ancora fashion show in Milan last month, Davika Hoorne has solidified her alliance with the Italian fashion house and has been officially appointed the brand’s newest ambassador, representing both Gucci and Gucci Beauty.

A prominent actress and model in Thailand, the 31-year-old boasts an impressive 13-year career in the Thai entertainment industry.

With a following of 17.9 million on Instagram, Hoorne is recognised as one of Thailand’s most beautiful faces and a sought-after spokesperson for luxury brands. The actress is Gucci’s first ever Thai ambassador and joins the ranks of Asian A-listers – including NewJeans member Hanni, Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt and Squid Game star Lee Jung-jae – in representing the brand.

Davika Hoorne was born and raised in Thailand

Davika Hoorne, better known as “Mai”, was born on May 16, 1992 in Bangkok to a Thai mother and Belgian father. In a Mother’s Day interview, Hoorne revealed that her parents separated when she was 10, with her father leaving to start a new family. She was then raised by her mum and aunt.

Hoorne has a degree in communication arts from Rangsit University in Thailand.

Hoorne has previously endorsed several luxury brands and has even walked for Michael Kors and Dolce & Gabbana. So it’s no surprise that her first forays in the entertainment industry were as a model in 2010 before she quickly jumped into acting.

The actress has been cast in multiple television shows and films, achieving stardom at the age of 20 in her breakout role as Mae Nak in the 2013 horror-comedy Pee Mak. The movie became Thailand’s highest-grossing film of all time. In 2015, Hoorne’s lead role in the Thai romantic movie Heart Attack earned her several best actress awards.

Hoorne, who was nicknamed Mai by her mother after renowned Thai singer Mai Charoenpura, has also dabbled in music. After collaborating with artists like South Korean singer Ali and Vietnamese singer Son Tung M-TP, the My Ambulance actress released her debut digital single in 2022 titled “Can I Call You Mine”.

Beyond her successful career, Hoorne actively supports various charitable organisations. She joined Unicef’s Basket of Hope fundraising campaign in 2016, to raise funds for children affected by emergencies around the world.

In 2018 Hoorne joined WildAid as Thailand’s ambassador for the #IvoryFree campaign, whereby supporters promise to never buy, own or give ivory as a gift.

She is in a relationship with Thai actor Chantavit Dhanasevi

The actress has been in a relationship with fellow Thai actor Chantavit Dhanasevi since 2018. The pair met on the set of the Thai romcom TV drama Chai Mai Jing Ying Tae.

The lovebirds occasionally appear on each other’s personal Instagram accounts celebrating their relationship and each other’s successes. Dhanasevi also appears in multiple videos on Hoorne’s YouTube channel, where she frequently posts travel vlogs, her music, and videos with her friends.
