Kullander was just 30 years old when it was confirmed that he had died in his sleep on November 23, as announced on Amber Group’s website. The news was broadcast via a pop-up appearing on the homepage of the site. The statement did not say where Kullander passed away.
His sudden death has shocked many around the business world, and has raised questions as to what exactly happened to the company’s co-founder.
According to the New York Post, the news comes as Amber Group was on the cusp of landing a big investment, and was reportedly in the process of raising around US$100 million.
Blogs, pop-up sites and crypto pages have been inundated with questions around the death, with the most searched topic including “what disease did Tiantian have?” and “Tiantian cause of death”.

Tiantian Kullander’s rise to crypto fame
According to Crypto News, the Hong Kong based businessman was known to his friends and family as “TT”. In 2017, he launched Amber Group along with a group of pals from Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley, reports Marca.
TT worked as a trader at both finance giants prior to breaking off on his own.
According to Lee Daily, Kullander had an estimated net worth of US$3 billion.
Crypto king
In crypto circles, TT was respected and admired.
According to New York Post, Amber Group has achieved major success, with a massive US$3 billion valuation after scoring a US$200 million funding round earlier this year.
On its website, the team describes itself as a team of “entrepreneurial technologists, traders, and engineers on a mission to create frictionless marketplaces”.
On his LinkedIn page, Kullander listed himself as sitting on the board of esports company Fnatic and as a founding member of Rook Labs.

He was well-liked and a family man
Kullander was intensely private about his personal affairs and rarely shared any news about himself on public forums. In the statement from Amber Group, it said the businessman’s “insights and creativity inspired many projects, people and communities”.
“TT’s legacy will live on and we will work even harder to make Amber the category-defining leader of our industry, as this was TT’s ambition and dream,” concluded the statement on the company’s website.
The tribute also revealed that TT was married and a father, with Amber Group saying “TT was a devoted husband, a loving father and a fierce friend. His passing is a tragedy and our thoughts and prayers are with his family.”

News of Kullander’s death has sparked a series of conspiracy theories after the death of cryptocurrency millionaire Nikolai Mushegian.

Mushegian died on October 28 at the age of 29, per the New York Post. He drowned on a Puerto Rican beach just hours after tweeting that Mossad and the CIA were trying to murder him, reports the same source.
According to the publication, he was an early developer of Maker DAO, the largest decentralised finance protocol, the report continues.
New York Post also received a tip from an anonymous source claiming that the crypto developer was a loner who lived with his dog. After breaking up with his girlfriend, he was convinced she was a “spy”.
