Malaysian police have solved the gruesome murder of a mother and her son with the arrest of her Singaporean husband in Melaka.

Melaka police chief Deputy Commissioner Mat Kassim Karim said the suspect was arrested on Friday with the cooperation of Singaporean authorities.

He said the man is being brought back to Melaka to assist murder investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

A grass cutter had found several dismembered body parts at Kampung Ladang in Krubong, Melaka at about 4.30pm on Thursday.

He stumbled upon eight body parts and lodged a police report immediately at the Tanjung Minyak police station.

Both victims were believed to have been murdered a few days ago.

Based on preliminary investigations, police said the murder is believed to have happened at a double-storey house belonging to the woman.

Police found blood stains in a room on the ground floor.

It is believed that there are more body parts discarded in a secondary jungle in Krubong.

Further investigations into the case are ongoing.
