Siblings face fraud charges over television quiz bribery

A brother and sister appeared in court yesterday accused of offering a bribe of about HK$46,000 to a Now TV engineer in return for tips to win HK$350,000 in a game show.
Fung Kin-fung, 29, and his sister Fung Kin-man, 28, allegedly conspired with the engineer to defraud Now TV operator PCCW Media and allegedly induced it to pay prize money to them and two other contestants in the television quiz show in 2011.
The pair are jointly charged with conspiracy to defraud. The elder Fung also faces one count of conspiracy to offer an advantage to an agent.
The two entered no plea at Eastern Court.
Principal Magistrate Bina Chainrai granted a six-week adjournment for defence lawyers to discuss the case with them.
Both Fungs have been released on HK$10,000 cash bail and will reappear on September 18 to enter their pleas.
