Three people were injured when a Hong Kong taxi slammed into another cab, temporarily shutting down a tunnel on Monday morning.

Police said that at around 8.50am, a cement mixer truck driven by a 31-year-old man and a taxi driven by another 31-year-old man were travelling through the Tseung Kwan O-Lam Tin Tunnel when the vehicles had to slow down to a halt due to traffic conditions.

A second taxi, driven by a 28-year-old man carrying a 31-year-old female passenger, failed to stop and slammed into the back of the first taxi.

Pictures from the scene show the first taxi sandwiched between the two other vehicles, with most of its front end crushed under the back of the cement mixer. Ambulances, fire trucks and police vehicles were deployed to the scene, images showed.
