Hong Kong's Sarah Lee back in the saddle and out for sprint revenge as she faces off against Anna Meares
Hong Kong cycling star Sarah Lee Wai-sze was back on her bike in the women’s sprint at the Rio Olympics on Sunday, after a nasty crash on Saturday ended her medal hopes in the keirin.
Hong Kong star Sarah Lee Wai-sze gets her chance for revenge against Australia’s Anna Meares in the 1/8-finals of the women’s sprint on Monday.
A nudge from Meares sent Lee – and her medal hopes - flying in the keirin on Saturday.
Now the pair face off early in the sprint after reigning champion Meares had to qualify through the 1/16-final repechages.

Lee was back on her bike after Saturday’s nasty crash and sailed through to the 1/8-finals, finishing third in qualifying then seeing off France’s Virginie Cueff in her 1/16-finals match-up.
But she didn’t pause to reflect on the disappointment of the keirin, when Meares made contact with her in the semis and sent her flying.
Meares failed to win her 1/16-final match-up against Simona Krupeckaite, but won the second-chance repechage.
Lee was a bronze medallist in the keirin in London 2012, but now needs to get revenge over six-time Olympic medallist Meares – and the rest of a strong field – if she has to medal in the sprint.
“My coach doesn’t want me to do any interviews until after the quarter-finals,” she apologised.
Meanwhile, Leung Chun-wing kicked off his men’s omnium campaign but was lying 17th out of 18 at the halfway stage of the six-discipline event.
