Asian Games 2023: Hong Kong win double cycling silver, dressage silver, foil fencing bronze

  • Omnium rider Leung Ka-yu joins Madison pair Yang Qianyu and Ceci Lee Sze-wing in taking cycling silver
  • Jacqueline Siu also claims silver in dressage, while Kuan Yu-ching, Valerie Cheng, Sophia Wu and Daphne Chan collect bronze in team foil

Hong Kong won two silver medals in track cycling at the Asian Games on Thursday, while earning a second dressage medal of the week and an eighth in fencing.

The women’s team foil quartet of Kuan Yu-ching, Valerie Cheng Hiu-wai, Sophia Wu and Daphne Chan Nok-sze claimed fencing bronze after bowing out in the semi-finals.

Then equestrian rider Jacqueline Siu Wing-ying collected silver in the individual dressage, two days after helping Hong Kong’s team dressage trio to bronze.

At the velodrome, Leung Ka-yu took a thrilling second place in the men’s omnium after Yang Qianyu and Ceci Lee Sze-wing did likewise in the women’s Madison.

In the omnium – cycling’s equivalent of the decathlon, featuring four events in one day – Leung delivered an explosive performance in the closing points race, finishing second to overhaul UAE rider Ahmed Almansoori. Japan’s Kazushige Kuboki won the points race and gold.
