ONE Championship reveals three title fights, including Superlek vs Rodtang for flyweight kickboxing gold

  • Flyweight Muay Thai champ Rodtang will challenge Superlek for kickboxing gold at ONE Fight Night 8 on March 25 in Singapore
  • Nong-O Gaiyanghadao and Regian Eersel also set to defend their Muay Thai titles, taking on Jonathan Haggerty and Sinsamut Klinmee respectively

ONE Championship has added three big title fights to the calendar.

The new matchups were revealed by Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong on Facebook on Monday.

Chief among Chatri’s announcements was a flyweight kickboxing title fight between champion Superlek Kiatmoo9 and Rodtang Jitmuangnon, ONE’s flyweight Muay Thai champ. They will meet at ONE Fight Night 8 on March 25 in Singapore.

Nong-O Gaiyanghadao celebrates his victory over Alaverdi Ramazanov at ONE Friday Fights 1.

It was also revealed that Nong-O Gaiyanghadao will defend his bantamweight Muay Thai belt against Jonathan Haggerty at ONE Fight Night 9 on April 22, in a to be announced location.

Lastly, lightweight Muay Thai champion Regian Eersel will defend his title against Sinsamut Klinmee at ONE Friday Fights 9 on March 17 in Bangkok, Thailand’s famed Lumpinee Stadium.

Superlek, from Thailand, became ONE’s flyweight kickboxing champion at ONE Fight Night 6 last month in Bangkok, when he defeated Daniel Puertas by decision to claim the vacant belt.

Rodtang Jitmuangnon lands a punch on Jiduo Yibu.

Thailand’s Rodtang was also in action on that card, defeating China’s Jiduo Yibu by decision in a flyweight kickboxing clash, asserting himself as one of the division’s top contenders in the process.

While Rodtang will be the challenger at ONE Fight Night 8, he is well accustomed to being a champion. He has held the promotion’s flyweight Muay Thai title since he defeated Jonathan Haggerty in 2019, and has defended it four times since – quite an accomplishment considering he has also been actively competing in other combat sports disciplines.

Nong-O is also a well established champion in ONE.

The Thai star won the bantamweight Muay Thai title with a decision defeat of Han Zihao in early 2019, and will be looking for a record-setting eighth title defence when he takes on the former flyweight champ Haggerty at ONE Fight Night 9 on April 22. His last victory occurred at ONE Fight Night 6 when he knocked out Alaverdi Ramazanov.

England’s Haggerty made his debut in the bantamweight division late last year, defeating Vladimir Kuzmin by split decision to assert himself as a contender in the weight class.

The location for the April 22 card has not yet been revealed.

Dutchman Eersel, ONE’s long-reigning lightweight kickboxing champ, won the lightweight Muay Thai belt with a split-decision defeat of Thailand’s Sinsamut last year. Both men will aiming for a more decisive verdict when they meet again on March 17 in Lumpinee.

Before their first meeting, Eersel was riding kickboxing title defences over Nieky Holzken, Mustapha Haida, Islam Murtazaev and Arian Sadikovic.

Sinsamut, meanwhile, was riding KOs of Holzken and Liam Nolan in his first two ONE bouts.
