Racing Incident Report
Race One: (11) - STANLEY HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1650Meters
CLEMENT LEGEND was withdrawn on raceday morning by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore foot).
Before being allowed to race again, CLEMENT LEGEND will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
EASTERN PROWESS began awkwardly.
TORNEY was shifted across behind runners shortly after the start.
After travelling a short distance, MONEY WINNER raced in restricted room between MY BLESSING and MI BLANCO.
Passing the winning post on the first occasion, CELEBRATION and MY BLESSING raced tight.
Near the 1050 Metres, DUTCH WINDMILL momentarily raced tight inside MI BLANCO which got its head on the side and shifted in away from the heels of LE PEGASE.
At the entrance to the Straight, MONEY WINNER was directed to the inside of MY BLESSING to obtain clear running.
Apprentice C Wong (MY BLESSING) dropped his whip near the 250 Metres.
Near the 150 Metres, MI BLANCO, which was giving ground, was momentarily steadied away from the heels of CELEBRATION which shifted in.
Passing the 150 Metres, TORNEY raced tight inside DUTCH WINDMILL.
G van Niekerk, the rider of the 6th placegetter, CELEBRATION, pleaded guilty to a breach of Rule 100(2) in that he failed to ride his mount out all the way to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stewards.
G van Niekerk was fined the sum of $10,000.
In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into consideration that this was the first occasion that Jockey van Niekerk had ridden at Happy Valley.
A veterinary inspection of MY BLESSING and MI BLANCO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
LE PEGASE and MONEY WINNER were sent for sampling.

Post-time favourite Le Pegase drew clear at the 150m despite going forward deep from a wide gate to serve it up to leader My Blessing 1,100m out. It was another terrific trainer feat by rookie trainer Jimmy Ting Koon-ho and he can win another. Money Winner found one too good after staying on nicely near the inside following a rail run in midfield. He's a winner waiting to happen. Early favourite Dutch Windmill just held off Eastern Prowess for third following a dream run. It was a pleasing first run back and he'll be winning shortly in the grade. Eastern Prowess closed well down the outside despite still being last at the 180m. It was an improved run following a stable change. Celebration produced a grinding effort following a midfield run. A step to 1,800m might suit him now. My Blessing had to work to lead and was struggling 150m out. He needs to work on his fitness.
